Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tofu:
Drain the tofu and press it gently to remove excess water. Slice into ½-inch thick pieces.
  2. Make the miso glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together miso paste, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic until smooth.
  3. Marinate:
Brush the tofu with the miso glaze and let it sit for 15–30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Broil:
Place tofu slices on a lined baking sheet. Broil for 4–5 minutes per side, or until the surface becomes golden and slightly charred.
  5. Serve:
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables.
